–Officers responded to the intersection of East State Street and South Lincoln Avenue at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday for a possible intoxicated driver. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Officers determined everything was okay.

–Officers responded to a residence on the 600 block of East Perry Street at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday for reports of a motorcycle speeding up and down the roadway. The driver was located at his residence and the motorcycle was already parked. The driver was advised of the complaint.

–Officers responded to the 1900 block of Monroe Street at 12:03 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a prowler. The caller advised he’d seen somebody walk past his window, and heard his screen door being opened. Officers checked the area but nobody was found.

–Officers responded to the 1600 block at 11:12 p.m. Monday for a suspicious vehicle. Officers observed three individuals walking around looking at the ground. Once they saw officers they got into their vehicle and attempted to drive away. Officers made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver Laura Smith, who admitted to seeing officers but didn’t think they were in trouble so they drove away. Officers received consent to search the vehicle and found a clear baggy with a clear crystal substance and two unmarked pill bottles, one containing a white crystal substance, and the other containing pills. Smith was arrested for drug paraphernalia and transported to the Salem Police Department for processing then transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

–Officers responded to the 100 block of Sharp Avenue at 10:41 p.m. Monday for a suspicious vehicle. Officers made contact with the driver and passenger of the vehicle, who claimed they were waiting for a friend. Officers determined everything was ok.

–While on patrol at 9:48 p.m. Monday officers noticed several open shed doors at a residence on the 2500 block of East State Street. Officers checked the area locating nobody.

–While on patrol in the 2300 block of East State Street at 9:38 p.m. Monday officers located a vehicle behind a closed business. Officers contacted the driver and passenger of the vehicle who were just employees of the business.

–Officers responded to a residence on the 1900 block of Southeast Boulevard at 9:20 p.m. Monday for a speak with officer for a civil matter. Officers advised the caller to contact a lawyer as they could not get involved due to it being a civil matter.

–Officers responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 9:13 p.m. Monday for a follow-up investigation for a warrant check. Officers made contact with the resident and received verbal permission to check the residence. Everything checked okay, and officers were unable to locate the wanted man.

–Officers responded to Waterworth Memorial Park at 7:13 p.m. Monday for a juvenile complaint. Officers spoke with the juvenile and their parents. The juveniles left the park.

–Officers responded to a residence on the 200 block of North Madison Avenue at 5:28 p.m. Monday for a report of loud music. Officers made contact with Larry Warner, who advised his grandson had been playing loud music but since left. Officers found Warner to have an active warrant for his arrest out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear in court. Once the warrant was confirmed Warner was taken into custody and transported back to the Police Department for processing, and later transported to Columbiana County Jail.

–An officer responded to a residence on the 900 block of Liberty Street at 4:31 p.m. Monday for an anonymous request for a wellness check due to a possible argument between a man and woman. Officers attempted contact, and a man came to the door but immediately walked away refusing to answer subsequent knocks. Officer advised through the door that police would return in the near future to attempt contact again until the wellbeing of the residents could be confirmed.

–Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 3:51 p.m. Monday for a possible combative patient. Medical personnel had made arrangements to secure a bed at an area shelter for the individual. However, the individual was reluctant to trust anyone and did not want to get into the vehicle to be transported to the shelter. After a lengthy discussion the individual did reluctantly get into the vehicle after an officer agreed to follow to the shelter to assure the individual would be safe. The individual was then voluntarily transported to the shelter.

–Officers responded to a residence on the 200 block of Hawley Avenue for a speak with officer. Officers spoke with the caller who believed individuals were trying to gain entry into his room through a window.

–Officers responded to the front of Salem City Hall at 2:22 p.m. Monday to make contact with EMT and a male subject. The man was concerned he was going to get hurt prior to going to the hospital. Officer and EMT staff spoke with the man who eventually agreed to go to the hospital to get checked out for dizziness.

–An officer responded to the intersection of East Sixth Street and East School Street at 1:36 p.m. Monday for a garbage truck that struck a stop sign and then left the area. Officer found the garbage truck still on scene and made contact with the driver. No damage was reported to the truck and the stop sign had already been replaced with no noticeable damage. The traffic division was advised to check the sign to make sure it was in the ground property.

–Officers responded to the 2400 block of East Pershing Street at 1:22 p.m. Monday to check for a man matching the description of a man being sought by law enforcement. Officers responded to the area but nobody was found.

–Officers responded to the area of Wal-Mart for a woman asking for money. Officers made contact with the woman who advised she was from Florida and trying to get to Pennsylvania. No problems were found with her and she denied any assistance. The woman advised she was departing the city.

–Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Woodland Avenue at 12:29 p.m. Monday in reference to an incident on June 25th when multiple cars parked on Woodland Avenue between the 300 and 500 blocks were struck with eggs. Security cameras showed a grey vehicle frequently driving in the area, which the caller suspected could be involved. Officers located the vehicle, confirming it to be the one in the video, but it was not involved in the incident. It had been frequently in the area because it was coming and going from a residence up the street. The caller was advised of the officer’s findings and that an extra patrol would be done in the area.

–Officers spoke by phone with a woman at the Police Department at 10:32 p.m. Monday who wished to file a theft report. The woman claimed she had rented and paid for a storage unit, but was unable to access the unit due to a faulty pass code. The woman claimed she had contacted the company and wanted a refund after having the unit for three days, but never being able to gain access, after about a week she received a refund but still was charged $63.17, The woman tried contact the business again unsuccessfully. Officers contacted an employee of the business who claimed another employee tried the pass code the next day and it worked, and that contract was sent to the woman via email that should have explained the procedures but she never opened it. One month’s rent is usually charged but they gave the woman a break and only charged $50. Officers contacted the woman and informed her this was a civil issue and a report would be filed.

–Officers responded to a residence on the 200 block of Apple Street at 10:08 p.m. Monday to assist Perry Township Police with a domestic matter. Officers assisted until no longer needed.
